SAINT GALGANO

This sculture represents the conversion of San Galgano in 1200 who was the son of Count Guidotti, a rich local merchant. Galgano gave up his wealth to become a monk and embrace poverty and sacrifice. Having read the story of this man, I transformed the emotions of his personal story into an image. This sculpture is now in the chapel of Montesiepi together with the Sword of the rock of Galgano, and here one can also admire sinopites and frescoes by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, a sienese painter of the 14th Century.
